Portable Plug-and-Play Power Solution
The Kool Energy 1KW Plug-and-Play Inverter is a portable backup power system designed to keep essential appliances and electronics running during power interruptions and load shedding. Its trolley-style construction allows the unit to be moved conveniently between rooms or stored away when it is not required. The system is supplied with a pre-installed 12V 100Ah deep-cycle VRLA gel battery, so it is ready to use without the need for a conventional fixed inverter installation.
Pure Sine Wave Output
The inverter provides a pure sine wave output with a rated power of 1000W, making it suitable for a range of electronics and motorised loads. It provides 220VAC output at 50/60Hz and has an output power factor of 1.0. The system includes two South African 3-pin AC sockets with a combined maximum output of 1000VA/1000W.
Solar Charging with MPPT
The built-in MPPT solar charger allows the battery to be charged using compatible solar panels. The solar input supports a maximum photovoltaic voltage of approximately 25V DC, a 10–25V DC charge voltage range, a 30A rated charging current and up to 360Wp maximum solar input power. Overcharge protection is specified at 14.2V, recovery at 14.0V and floating charge at 13.7V.
Battery System
The system includes 1 × 12V 100Ah deep-cycle VRLA gel battery installed inside the unit. The supplied battery configuration is intended for backup-power applications and avoids the need to purchase and install a separate battery for the inverter.
USB and DC Outputs
In addition to the AC sockets, the inverter provides 2 × USB Type-A 5V DC outputs rated at up to 2A and 2 × 12V DC outputs rated at up to 2A. These outputs can be used for compatible low-voltage devices and accessories.
Monitoring and Protection
The system features an LCD display, LED indicators and function controls for monitoring operating status. A battery cut-off switch provides additional safety, while the system incorporates protective functions including overcharge and over-discharge protection. The microprocessor-controlled design and input power factor correction are intended to support reliable operation.
Load-Shedding Usage
This unit is designed for essential-load backup during power interruptions. The supplied gel-battery configuration is generally more suited to lighter or shorter-duration backup requirements than high-frequency deep-cycling applications. The supplied product information recommends avoiding excessive battery discharge to help extend battery service life. For applications requiring frequent deep cycling, a lithium-battery configuration may be more appropriate.
